Boxing gloves size guide: 10oz: Usually used in professional matches. Can also be used as "sack gloves" when exercising on the middle and sack. Should not be used for sparring. 12oz: Generally this weight is used for training on the mids and sacks. Can be used for easier sparring, but not with hard blows to the head. Good to use for smaller young people and girls. 14oz: Used by most adults between 50-85kg for free sparring. The heavier the glove, the more padding it is in it. It is important to have at least 14oz for free sparring, both for you and the person you are sparring with. 16oz: Used for free sparring of bigger guys and those who hit hard. 16oz is highly recommended by most clubs if you are going to be hit hard with a blow to the head. Remember that just like with shoes, the gloves stretch and form. It is good if they are tight when you buy them. One tip is to also wrap your hands with a boxing wrap, this to prevent hand injuries.
