Taekwondo is a martial art that originated in Korea and is known for its speed, strength and technical precision. An important part of taekwondo is the equipment, and a central part of it is the taekwondo suit, which is called the dobok.
Do you sell Taekwondo kimonos that are competition approved?
Yes, we sell TKD suits approved for WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) and ITF (International Taekwon-do Federation). Suits that are approved have information about this on the product pages.
What makes a Taekwondo gi different from other suits?
A taekwondo suit usually has wide pants and sleeves to facilitate quick punches and kicks. The suit is often made of a thin, light and breathable fabric to facilitate freedom of movement and ventilation during training and competition.
Do you need more equipment when starting Taekwondo?
Apart from the taekwondo suit, you don't need a lot of equipment to start practicing taekwondo. Most clubs recommend a jockstrap, mouth guard and hand and foot protection, but otherwise comfortable clothing and a water bottle are usually sufficient. However, it may be a good idea to check with your instructor to see if there are any special equipment requirements or recommendations. Under the Head protection category, you will also find taekwondo helmets that are approved for competition.
