• 12oz is best for girls sparring and mitts, 10oz for smaller girls and young people. 
• 14oz is best for guys sparring and midts if you weigh between 60-85kg, 16oz for bigger guys over 85kg. 

Size chart: 10oz: Most often used in professional matches. Can also be used as "sack gloves" when training in the middle and sack. Should not be used for sparring. 12oz: Generally this weight is used for training on the middle and sack. Can be used for lighter sparring, but not with hard blows to the head. Can be used for smaller young people and girls. 14oz: Used by most adults between 50-85kg for free sparring. The heavier the glove, the more padding there is in it. It is important to have at least 14oz for free sparring, both for you and the person you are sparring with. 16oz: Used for free sparring of bigger guys and those who hit hard. 16oz is highly recommended by most clubs if you want to be spared hard with blows to the head. Remember that just like with shoes, the gloves stretch and shape. It is good if they are tight when you buy them. A tip is to also wrap your hands with a boxing wrap, this to prevent hand injuries.
